My creative style
In my experience, the best circus is a melting pot of expression, able to include fashion, music, theater, drag, dance, and acrobatics, meaning there is nothing off-limits or impossible. In fact, the industry thrives when it is highly creative, emotionally vulnerable, and inclusive of people of all genders, nationalities, skin colors, sexualities, and upbringings. As each person contributes their life experiences, every production, every role, even every moment on stage offers infinite possibilities for transformation. It is this transformation, from an ordinary idea on paper to an extraordinary moment on stage in the hands of extraordinary people, that I believe is the most crucial aspect of circus.
With over 10 years experience of creating in circus, I know what works well for a variety of stages, from intimate wedding venues to lively local outdoor festivals, and even the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden. And still, as an acrobatic designer and director, I strive to incorporate each person’s idiosyncratic creativity in a way that is artistically fulfilling while still being legible and understandable to audiences in the context of a performance. It’s important for me to make sure I’m honoring the expertise they bring by regularly generating other options and allowing us to agree on which idea is most exciting. With collaboration and an openness to learning from each other, I believe we enhance the level of performance we can achieve and arrive at work that is always at its highest caliber for any kind and any size of project.

{IN}TANGIBLE is a dramatic circus-play combining theatre and narrative circus to tell the story of a woman and her family negotiating dementia. As choreographer, I help tell the story of Q through her memories using circus, including rope, tissu, duo trapeze, jump rope, stilts, and object manipulation.
Past productions
The Secret
Garden
A People's Circus Theater Production
In collaboration with the San Francisco Circus Center
Directed by: Felicity Hesed
Performed at The Children's Museum in San Francisco, CA, USA
Based on the book by Frances Hodgson Burnett, the show closely tied circus to its theatrical story. As the Acrobatic Designer I worked with a cast ranging from ages 10 to 50 and choreographed 13 group and solo acrobatic numbers including aerial hoop, aerial trapeze, pyramids, banquine, hand to hand, and partner acrobatics.
Alex + Zac's First Dance
Performed at Bar 717 Ranch
in Hayfork, CA, USA
Looking for an alternative to the traditional first dance for their wedding, Alex and Zac reached out for some help choreographing a hand to hand number to impress their guests. Already avid practitioners, it was a pleasure to push them to show off the best they could in a beaufitul local in front of their family and friends.
